Viewfinder: Village of the Arts "Festival of Skeletons" Photo Gallery

Patch paid a visit to the Village of the Arts and got some shots of this year's Festival of Skeletons, featuring Frida Kahlo.

The Village of the Arts’ 7th annual “Festival of the Skeletons,” this year paying homage to the artist, Frida Kahlo, kicked off during Friday evening’s monthly art walk.

The festival coincides with the Mexican holiday, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), during which the dead are honored through ofrendas (offerings) of flowers, photographs of the deceased and their favorite foods and memorabilia.

As is the custom of the monthly first Friday art walks, Village galleries stayed open for extended evening hours. The festival also features a shrine to Frida Kahlo, live music and a Frida Kahlo look-alike contest.
