Soprano Soloist to Perform An Evening of Art Songs

The Oct. 11 concert will feature songs by George Frideric Handel, Franz Schubert, Arthur Honegger and Aaron Copland.

Concert soloist Martha Lopez, a vocal instructor at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota who performs throughout southwest Florida, will present a classical voice recital Oct. 11, in the Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. West.

Pianist Lurray Myers will accompany Lopez as she presents an evening of art songs by George Frideric Handel, Franz Schubert, Arthur Honegger, Aaron Copland, Joaquín Turina and Manuel de Falla.

Lopez has performed with local organizations including Sarasota Pops Orchestra, the North Port Symphony and the St. Petersburg Opera. She performs regularly as a concert soloist throughout Southwest Florida. She also is the Florida director of “Ben & I Play for Peace,” a nationwide concert event that raises money for disabled children who need wheelchairs. Lopez earned her bachelor's degree in music from Stetson University and a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of South Florida.
