Manatee County Animal Services Offering December Adoption Special

Cats are free during December, although the $15 license fee will not be waived.

Studies show petting a cat can lower your blood pressure and help relieve stress. Their purring promotes relaxation (that's not based on a study, but rather presonal experience).

Well if you're concerned about wellnesss, Manatee County has a deal for you. Manatee County Animal Services is offering cats for adoption at no cost in December. That’s right, cats are free while supplies last. The Manatee County license however, is still $15.

Any and all cats, all shapes, sizes and colors, at no cost to you. No down payments, no interest and you're free to adopt a pair of cats.

All pets adopted will receive a health check, be spayed/neutered, vaccinated including rabies and microchipped. Now the disclaimer in not so small print; Free does not include a license certificate/tag required for Manatee County residents, which is $15.

“Come to Animal Services and check out our cats-a-plenty. We have cats for everyone," said Animal Services Chief Kris Weiskopf. "Help us help the animals by adopting today; every animal deserves a second chance at a good life.”

This adoption special is another step in the County’s plan to become a no-kill community.  Please help up save lives today!

The special is available at both Animal Services locations: in Palmetto, 305 25th St. W. (open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and in Bradenton, 1002 B., Manatee Ave. W., (open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). I don't even live in the Manatee area, but I stumbled across this story while researching another. In a nutshell, with ALL of the following being given for free to those who'll adopt cats housed by your area shelters during the month of December: - Adoption fee - Health check - Spaying/neutering - Vaccination (including rabies) - AND Microchipping... ...a $15 licensing fee is an absolute pittance to pay for a furry friend who would give you a lifetime of love. I heartily applaud the Manatee shelters for putting forth this offer for the residents of your area. If you've got just a little spare room in your residence, your wallet or pocketbook, and heart... and you're able to do so... adopting one of the little ones from a shelter in your area would be one of the best presents, Christmas or otherwise, you'd ever give to yourself. I hope that many in your area are able to help save the lives of as many of these little ones as possible.
