Bradenton Hosts One of State's Largest Parades Tonight

Don't miss Patch in the parade.

The Hernando DeSoto Historical Society’s Grand Parade will depart from at 6:30 p.m. today, for its 2.5-mile journey across town. Click here for a parade route and don't forget that roads along the route will close beginning at 5:30 p.m.

More than 200,000 people are expected to come out to view the parade on Saturday. With more than 150 floats on display, it is recognized as one of the largest parades in the south. Look for Patch in the parade. We will launch t-shirts and throw beads and candy to the crowd.

The City of Bradenton has set out trash cans and trash bags all along the route. All trash should be bagged and left on the curb along the route Saturday night. The city will collect all of those bags on Sunday.

For more info, call 941-747-1998 (between 9-5 p.m. M-F) or visit www.desotohq.com.

We're looking forward to attending again this year. Last year we were downtown because we couldn't find a place to put our chairs on Manatee Ave. I would NOT recommend downtown because it's the end of the parade and they're out of things to throw to the crowd. Plus the parade participants are tired and ready to go home and can see the finish line.
So does anyone have any suggestions on where you can find a spot for your chair?

Toni,
Wish I had been there. Heard you all had a fun time (like the Patch Gang aren't always fun to hang out with). Thanks for the free hotdogs on fri. yum yum. Carolyn and the late Sukoshi
