1,000 Empty Bowls to Fill at Delicious Fundraiser

The Food Bank of Manatee, ArtCenter Manatee, Publix Supermarkets and over 16 local restaurants are taking part in this one-of-a-kind event.

More than 1,000 handmade bowls are ready for the largest fundraiser of the year for The Food Bank of Manatee.

The Thursday event will help the organization to continue providing food for the hungry children and families in the community.  

Proceeds from Empty Bowls 2012 will be used to help stock the shelves with non-perishable goods, and to purchase much-needed perishable foods for emergency food baskets.

The Food Bank of Manatee, ArtCenter Manatee, Publix Supermarkets and over 16 local restaurants are taking part in this one-of-a-kind event.

With the purchase of a $20.00 ticket ($10.00 is tax-deductible), guests are invited to choose from over 1,000 handcrafted bowls, and enjoy a lunch of delicious soups provided by local restaurants with fresh bread from Publix.

The symbolic meal of soup and bread demonstrates that tthe empty bowls of neighbors can be filled.

Empty Bowls 2012 is Thursday, October 18, at Renaissance on 9th (1816 9th Street West) in Bradenton and Friday, October 19, on Main Street at Lakewood Ranch. The hours for both events are 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
