Animal Rescue Coalition Reaches Over 60% of Capital Campaign Goal

Kick-off Gift of $300K gives big boost to mission-critical fundraiser

In February of this year, the Animal Rescue Coalition (ARC), an organization whose mission is to end the killing of adoptable dogs and cats by making spay and neutering services more accessible and affordable to low-income pet owners, kicked off a capital campaign to raise money to establish a high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter clinic just east of I-75 near the Fruitville Library. ARC’s mobile operation, implemented in 2002, has become expensive to operate and, with a capacity of just 16 procedures a day, makes it a challenge to meet demand. A permanent facility will increase the number of spays and neuters up to 35 a day, making better use of fixed overhead and reducing the cost per spay. In addition, ARC will implement a transport program to reach outlying areas of critical need in south Sarasota, DeSoto, and Charlotte counties.
With an initial gift of $300,000 made by Joanna Pace-Brackett and David Brackett, the campaign was off to a good start. To date, $545,000 has been raised including a challenge pledge of $100,000 to cap ARC’s campaign goal of $800K. When asked what motivated them to give ARC such a generous gift, Joanna, ARC’s Board Chair, replied, “We cannot shelter or adopt our way out of this situation.” Joanna refers to the stark reality that many thousands of animals crowd shelters and are euthanized each year due to a lack of space, funding and resources.
All funds will be used to start the renovations needed for a fully-equipped spay and neuter clinic. “Moving our operation from a mobile clinic to a free-standing building will allow us to triple the volume of procedures we perform. We are very conscious of spending our donor's money wisely and are focused on accomplishing our mission”, says Gisele Pintchuck, Executive Director. “We are so grateful to our supporters and donors who share our vision for a true 'no-kill' community. Spaying and neutering address the issue of overpopulation at its core,” she added.
ARC has been accepted as a Humane Alliance organization, a process that has required extensive due-diligence. The Humane Alliance is a nationally recognized non-profit organization that focuses on high-volume, high-quality, low-cost companion animal sterilization. ARC is one of 120 clinics in the US that have adopted its tried and tested clinic model that increases procedures and lowers expenses.
ARC is accepting donations toward its capital campaign. For more information, please call 941-957-1955 ext. 2.
