Advent Lessons and Carols: A festive celebration for the community

Nov. 21, 2013 / Sarasota, Fla. — Advent Lessons and Carols, a festive celebration in preparation of the birth of Christ, will be offered as a gift to the community at the Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave., in downtown Sarasota, on Sun., Dec. 1, at 5:15 p.m. A light reception will follow in Gillespie Hall. No tickets or reservations are required for this free event.

Presenting Advent Lessons and Carols is an ancient Anglican tradition in which the congregation actively joins in the reading of Scripture aloud, recounting of history from the Fall of Man, through the prophets, to the Annunciation of the Savior's birth to Mary. Throughout the service, the Redeemer choirs lead the congregation in the singing of well-loved Advent carols, under the direction of Organist-Choirmaster Ann Stephenson-Moe.
