School Board to Vote to Update Policies

On Monday during a regular meeting, the Manatee County School Board will vote on whether to hire an independent contractor to develop and update existing Board policies. Two companies, Educational Management Consultant Services, Inc., and NEOLA, have been researched and interviewed. The former quoted the board at $46,000 while NEOLA's bid was about $56,000.

Bradenton City Council to Discuss Police Officer Retirement

The Bradenton City Council will be discussing the retirement of the Bradenton Police Department at a regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday at Bradenton City Hall around 8:30 a.m.

August is National Breastfeeding Month

The United States Breastfeeding Committee is working to promote breastfeeding as the preferred and most appropriate source of nutrition for infants. It has been proven to protect against disease and provides a foundation for lifelong health and wellness. 

Pet Pride Day This Saturday 

Manatee County Animal Services will be giving 50 free vaccination for the first 50 pets that show up to Pride Park, 815 63rd Ave. E., on Saturday August 17. The next 25 pets will received vaccinations at half price. Attendees must show a proof of residence in the zip code 34203. the organization will also give out free pet goody bags and hold a raffle with pet supplies at noon. 

Manatee High Rowing Team Fundraiser

Come support Manatee High School's rowelling team at Pier 22 on Saturday, August 17  from 6  to 9 p.m. An island style buffet will be served for $35 per person and includes one beverage. There will also be live music and a silent auction. Ticket purchases and auction donations are being accepted by Robert DeMino at 941-224-1252 or Margaret Tsai at 941-812-7260.
