Q: How long has D.R. Horton been involved in Schooner Cove?

A: D.R. Horton has been consistently selling homes in Schooner Cove for approximately five years.

Q: What are the price ranges and housing styles offered?

A: We offer both 2 and 3 bedroom luxury townhome condominiums with garages in Schooner Cove priced from the $170’s to $260’s.

Q: How many units are there now, and how many are planned?

A: Schooner Cove includes 250 townhome condominiums in total, of which approximately 65 are remaining to be sold.

Q. What other amenities can be expected for those who decide to purchase here?         

A: This gated community also offers resort-style amenities such as a pool, spa, fitness center and clubhouse.

Q: With all of the activity in South Tampa, and other options in the area, what are some major factors that will lead home buyers to choose Schooner Cove?

A: Schooner Cove is attractive due to affordable home prices, our unique product and a great infill South Tampa location that is only about 1 mile from MacDill Air Force Base.

Emerald Homes

Q: Is Emerald Homes entering the market with individual homes as opposed to developing a new subdivision?

A: Yes, that is correct. We have purchased 10 plus lots scattered throughout South Tampa and plan to build spec homes under our luxury brand, Emerald Homes.

Q: D.R. Horton seems to primarily build subdivisions in Tampa markets with plenty of available land. How new is custom homebuilding for D.R. Horton, and why South Tampa?

A: This is relatively new for D.R. Horton in the Tampa market; however, we have been doing this for about 10 months in infill areas of Sarasota known as West of the Trail. We are not building custom homes; rather, we are building luxury homes offering buyers the fit and finish they want at an affordable price for South Tampa. It is an attractive area due to the infill location and demand from buyers.

Q: What will the price range and typical home sizes be?

A: Our current plans include homes ranging from approximately 2,400 to 4,400 square feet priced from the upper $300s to over $1 million.

Q: One of the options that realtors and builders seems to prefer is acquiring lots with pre-existing homes, tearing them down and building more luxury homes. Is that the model for Emerald Homes in South Tampa?

A: Yes. This is an attractive option to us in today’s South Tampa market due to a lack of vacant lots currently available for sale.
