With the New Year approaching, it’s time to begin compiling the resolutions list.  As you create your personal list, please consider adding “don’t text while driving.”

The statistics are powerful:

• In the United States, someone is killed or injured once every five minutes in a crash that happens while a driver is texting and driving. 
• Texting drivers are 23 times more likely to be in an accident.
• Texting takes your eyes off the road for an average of 5 seconds.  At 55 mph, that’s equivalent to driving the length of a football field completely blind.

The risk is significant and, as this compelling video illustrates, completely unnecessary.

AT&T’s “It Can Wait” campaign has raised awareness of the dangers of texting while driving and inspired more than 1.2 million pledges not to text behind the wheel.
