Patch Is Collecting Questions for Obama and Romney During the Next Presidential Debate

If you have a question for the candidates, submit it in the comments section below and it could be asked during the televised Oct. 16 Town Hall Presidential Debate.

If last Wednesday’s presidential debate left you with more questions than answers, here’s your chance for the presidential candidates to address the issues that most matter to you.

The next presidential debate will be a town hall meeting format at Hofstra University in Long Island, where voters will ask President Obama and Mitt Romney about domestic and foreign policy.

Patch is asking you, our readers, to participate by submitting questions for the candidates.

All you have to do is post your question in the comments section below and we’ll send it to the Commission on Presidential Debates. The Commission is partnering with Patch's parent company Aol, along with Google and Yahoo, to take questions from web users across the country.

Don’t wait until Nov. 6 to have a say in this year’s election. Share your thoughts in the comments!

Hi, Bruce. Can you tell my why...if you are a middle class citizen, why on earth would you vote for Romney??

This man is SO out of touch with reality....according to him, us average people are banking 250,000 a year. Shows you how in tune with "the people" he is.

It is blatantly obvious, and by his own admission, that he is more interested in helping corporate America than us. What little bit he has revealed about his tax plan shows that the primary beneficiaries are the wealthy and big oil. They get tax breaks while the more numerous average joes pick up the financial slack.

The man straight up said, he believes 47 percent of us are basically bums. Furthermore that its "NOT HIS JOB" to worry about those people.

Are you kidding me??? You want to vote for a man who wrote off nearly half of the US population?? A man who essentially wants to further burden any family making under 250K a year??

I am neither Dem. OR Republican. However between these two the choice should be clear. To me it would seem the only people voting for Romney are: The wealthy, the ignorant, the racist, and bible thumpers who believe their religion belongs in Government. Separation of Church and State is a GOOD thing.

Either way, seriously....wtf would you vote against yourself?

Joe, maybe the right-wing press has dropped the issue of Romeny's tax returns, because Romney says "oh, don't worry, I'm good, trust me" but I'm not buying it. It's a relevant question. But to answer your question, yes, I do keep up with current events. You can pretend it isn't a issue, if you want. I DO NOT get my information from Faux News like some people. I mean you people are asking for Obama's college records? Claiming he's not born in the US? Is a Muslim? I mean, really? Give me a break.

Bruce, educational degrees and background are not a customary part of required records needed for presidential candidate.

What's your real point and why are you giving Romney a total pass on providing his tax records for several years, which have been customarily provbided by past presidential candidates. You must be a birther and a racist, too?

Obviously you have little education yourself to hold these kinds of right-wing and bizarre standards.

Actually some foreign countries have much stronger environmental and labor protection laws, but agree "we need fair trade, not free trade" as Kerry used to say. But, ironically, I used to always scratch my head as the Democrats continued to criticize Bush for not signing the Koyoto protocol because it exempted China and India.

To compete, the US needs to reform its tax code, spending and regulations.

Basically, implement more efficient and smarter regulations. Remember how the feds required the use of MBTE, and now all those companies are being sued?

The Fed gov't subsidized industrial farming and sugar despite the obesity problem in US.

Another example, what "policies" or "deregulations" occurred under Bush that caused the "great recession"? Glass Steagal was repealed under Clinton. Greenspan pushed big investors into MSBs under Clinton. Fannie/Freddie were on steroids in 90s. Do you remember Al Gore's focus before global warming? It was cutting red tape. Telling gov't agencies the private sector was "customer".

However, I share your concern about the environment and hope both candidates support smart efficient measures.

I also believe our labor unions need to be reformed. Less focus on expanding membership and more focus on workers (safety and compensation). To much resistance to productivity and innovation.

Governor Romney - the American people deserve honesty and transparency from their leaders. Would you please tell us SPECIFICALLY what deductions you will cut or reduce from the tax code in order to pay for your tax plan? Would you also please tell us why you refuse to release your own personal tax returns? You could have put this debate to rest a long time ago by releasing them.

Sadly, politicians always withhold a lot of details when it comes to painful decisions (we need tax reform and entitlement reforms and both include "third rails"), but we need more from both. However, Romney has started disclosing some details that I thought would interest you. Here's a big one:

"Romney's idea for capping individuals’ tax deductions at $17,000 would impose a burden that would fall hardest on the wealthiest taxpayers, who make the most use of the breaks."

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-10-03/romney-17-000-deduction-cap-first-of-three-part-proposal.html

I think ironic that we were all focused on Romney's, Buffet's and other wealthy folks low tax rates just a few weeks ago. The reason the wealthy pay such low rates is because of our outdated/bloated tax code. Imagine those making over $1 million paying a flat rate of 20% vs 14%, etc.

Also, remember the original purpose of the Alternative Min Tax - It was to make sure "rich" paid min? Now loaded with loopholes so hits middle class.

We need tax reform to broaden tax base and simplify.

That will remove a huge amount of uncertainty that is negatively impacting the economy. Businesses cannot make long term decisions (including hiring) with such uncertainty about tax policy and fiscal policy.

The President needs to propose his own tax and spending reforms asap to help us move forward.

The senate has failed to provide a budge in YEARS! We need short and long term plans from our gov't.

Tax reform and regulation reform. Some locations in the US are impossible to start certain businesses. Remember Al Gore's push as VP to improve gov't. He actually made progress, but nothings been done lately that is effective.

Just consider the Dodd Frank law. We certainly need regulations but that is a monstrosity that is still been written, analyzed etc and in the end will be diluted since so massive and complicated. Targeted new regs would have worked.

Some jobs are returning to US, but we need tax reform to bring the huge amount of money sitting overseas back to the US.

And we need to remove the cloud of uncertainty over businesses and individuals. We know massive changes to taxes and spending are needed. The delay is killing the economy.

For Romney: I am better off than I was 4 years ago. I am paying $6,000 for health insurance instead of $17,000. Why do you think that the health insurance works well in the free market when the insurance companies are (1) exempt from anit-trust laws and price fixing and (2) the free market has not been working. How will your plan address these issues as well as many others such as females being a preexisting condition, being uninsurable for minor preexisting issues, sky rocketing premiums that have been going up many years before Obamacare during the so-called "free market."

Everybody is better off than four years ago. Four years ago, on the day Obama took office, the country was staring into the abyss of a world wide depression. The Automotive industry was headed into the grave, banks were failing by the dozens, massive layoffs were weekly news, the entire housing market was in full collapse, Osama bin Laden still plotted against Americans, Lehman Brothers had collapsed, and the credit markets has closed up shop. One can argue about the pace of the recovery, but one simply can't argue that things are worse.

We are much better off then 4 years ago, we were losing 700,000 jobs per month we have been adding jobs every month for the past 3 years. The stock market has gone back up by over 5000 points and many have gained back what they lost in their investment accounts due to that recovery. Unemployment has dropped to under 8% and we are already receiving benefits from Health Care Reform. The war in Iraq has ended and we are winding down in the war in Afghanistan The Romney trickle down economy does not work, will you please make that clear this time in the debate and off set all the false statements made by Mitt Romney in the first debate. You are all to fearful to spend anything. That's what has been going on since the latter part of 2009. Ask the businesses in your area. 2012 has been the worst year for the last 10 years. Jasminetea if you are going to accurate it has been happening since July of 2008. That is what the trends, facts, and data has shown. Not the end of 2009, which still wouldn't be enough time for any legislation to take hold. Lets blame someone who enters office in January 2009 for issues starting in 2008. That makes plenty of sense. BOTH Parties are the cause of this mess, to point at just one man is just short sighted. The real question isn't what is Obama going to do, it is are the TWO MAJOR PARTIES working for us, or the corporations who are still making plenty of money. Remember through 2010, Obama had not real choice but to follow the Bush playbook. Which is something even the most bias conservatives should know at this point. I have my problems with both candidates, and neither candidate is working to fix the middle class.

A 30 year GLOBAL credit bubble popped shortly before Obama took office. The financial system froze and companies shed jobs out of fear. They over-fired because of the huge uncertainty. Hank Paulson offered his 3 page proposal which congress denied (the taxpayors would have made out much much better under Paulson's plan. Remember his "I cannot guarantee we'd make money for the taxpayer, but..."; instead Geitner did deals with Walls Street (errr, why did goldman get paid 100 cents on dollar when AIG negotiated them down?)).

So, we had a severe fiscal crisis but resolved/healed. However, companies and the economy should have sprung back like a rubber band since anyone at any company knew of the intense fear and over firing. Instead, DESPITE 4 trillion in stimulus from Congress and Fed, its a shockingly feeble recovery.

Why? Jobs should have been the No. 1 focus from day 1. If the engine is not running on all cylinders, not working well.

Instead the administration created way too much uncertainty with Obamacare, regulations, lack of any fiscal plan, etc.

What is killing this economy is the massive amount of uncertainty. They just don't get it.

Why in the world did they focus on health insurance reform instead of jobs and housing or simply controlling costs? Why was it rammed through?

In the end, I'm mildly better than the month long bottom of the fiscal crisis. Other than that, never been worse or more concerned for my kids.

Lyn, nearly 2,000 companies received waivers from Obamacare..............so people at those companies are exempt, but Debbie Wasserman Schultz from the other side of the state claims I must now be responsible by purchasing a product I will never use.

First it was to get all affordable care.............or more free care...............it's not a tax.................now it's a penalty for not being responsible.
I'm so freaking confused.
Was the overhaul to make it affordable????
Or was it to force me to be responsible by paying my share??
Or perhaps it's more sinister than a simpleton can imagine.

By the way, for those who believe this Healthcare Act helps, how is it helping my family when my wife and children's insurance DOUBLED due to allowing children up to the age of 26 to remain on their parents insurance. This alone doubled their insurance..............but it makes sense considering the Orwellian term "Affordable" is in the title.

If you ever want to know what a Bill will accomplish, simply read the title and expect the opposite.

Samuel, you don't understand Obamacare - you said so yourself. If you are paying high health insurance premiums it is simply because the insurance companies can do that. That part of the health care law has not taken effect yet. The 2,000 companies that received waivers are church-related companies. They asked for the waivers and the Christian Right would have gone wild if they had not been granted.

And you ask "overhaul to make it affordable???" And I can tell you for a fact YES, it is. My health insurance costs were $17,000 a year! Now, because I was able to purchase - yes, it's not given to me - affordable health care under the preexisting health insurance offered through the new law, I am now paying $6,000 per year. Hey, call it it a tax if you want, but it's a tax I'll take any day since I'm saving a LOT of money.

I'm sorry, but why wouldn't you want health insurance for your family? And why wouldn't you want to "pay your share"? Where were you children getting insurance before the health care act?

Sandy, where are you getting your info and did you even read what I wrote?

Prior to the passing of the Affordable scam, the insurance my wife and children had was a certain price for a few years. She is an RN at a local hospital with decent insurance. Once "Obamacare" passed, the Baycare network running the area hospitals implemented the part where children remain on parents insurance until the age of 26. THIS IMPLEMENTATION ALONE DOUBLED THEIR INSURANCE. So my middle class family is now having less money to spend on everything..PLUS, I must now purchase this product that I will never use, further dwindling our finances and you are going to tell me you don't care if I am taxed......just so YOU are paying less? Hmmm, sounds fair.

I am well aware of how corrupt our medical system is and how little knowledge MD's possess....they can take their Allopathic medicine and shove it. My family doesn't see the MD's for anything, our children do not get vaccinated, my wife works in a hospital and guess what??? None of us are EVER sick. We eat healthy non-GMO Organic food. We actually take care of ourselves so we do not become customers of the Medical Industry complex. I recently had Bells Palsy and used good Ole' Mother Nature to heal my self in 1.5 weeks...if I saw a MD, odds are I would have been shot up with some steroids......with healing coming 2+ months later. For the truth seekers, look into the Flexner report to see why we have the current medical system.

Why should I have to pay for any product I will never use? Seriously, please attempt to convince me why I should be force to purchase something or be taxed by the IRS?

And please, SANDYBEACH, enlighten us as to where you get your info. Church-related companies? Oh, many of the waiver recipients definitely subscribe to a religion, but it's the Union religion.

24 Hour Fitness, very first to receive a waiver......yep, working out is somewhat religious.
McDonalds...well Americans have been worshiping at this altar for years, so I guess you are right with this one.
Wal-Mart..well you won't see to many folks dressed in their Sundays best here, but all in all, you're probaly right, it is the new American Church.
AARP...exempt.
How about the New York City Teachers Union?? Yep, that 1.9 million Obama campaign contribution paid off for them.

Take a gander at the District Nancy Pelosi represents....there's reports showing 20% of the waivers were given to corporations in here district... That's 1 in 5.
I hear you can still get a decent priced steak at "Boboquivari’s" restaurant......or head on over to "Café des Amis," they don't have to raise their prices either. But sorry about "Ma and Pa's", they were forced to close due to the extra burden the Affordable care place upon them...but hey, what do you care, your insurance is cheaper.

Samuel, I never said YOU should be taxed more for my health insurance. I said "It's a tax I'LL TAKE . . " And as for your claim about 2,000 companies getting waivers, tha's false. The government has granted more than 200 waivers, but these merely give companies a temporary delay before being required to improve the coverage of cheap, bare-bones plans they currently offer.
I don't quite understand your claim that the health insurance YOUR "WIFE AND CHILDREN" had double due to allowing children up to the age of 26 to remain on their parents insurance." That doesn't make sense, but, again, why would you not want your children to be insurance? That's an honest question, not a jab. But it seems you have a problem because you don't want any insurance at all becuase you're not ever going to get sick because of your great lifestyle? Am I right about? I have a good lifestyle too: I'm a vegan for many years, exercise, am not overweight. But things can happen. You can still get sick, be in an accident, etc. I don't want to lose my house because I get sick. So, maybe you don't want insurance, but I do. And as for the people who cannot afford it, we were already paying for them before Obamacare. That's not gonna change. And everyone can keep the insurance they have. And, again, it is AFFORDABLE (from $17,000 down to $6,000 that I AM PAYING, NOT YOU, BUT ME)

Well Sandy, you've proven you're incapable of using the internet to do your own research. It's not complicated, take any company I cited and type Obamacare waiver after it and the results will yield reality for you.

The info was readily available on the HHS website, but as the list continued to grow, the link became harder and harder to find. JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE UNAWARE OF SOMETHING DOESN'T MEAN IT DOESN'T EXIST. You, and others like you, lose credibility when you cannot take 5 seconds to look into what another tells you..........if you choose to live with blinders, that is fine, but please do not attempt to belittle me when I actually know what I am speaking of and am attempting to make others aware.

I will do the work for you..............via the Govt:
http://cciio.cms.gov/resources/files/approved_applications_for_waiver.html

If you don't want to click on links and read for yourself, perhaps you can watch a video where Nancy Pelosi doesn't deny the enormous amount of waivers granted:
www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2011/10/28/pelosi_defends_obamacare_waivers_to_1800_firms_theyre_small_companies.html

You also show your ignorance when you claim it's a TAX you are willing to take......YOU ALREADY HAVE INSURANCE SO YOU WILL NOT BE TAXED AS I WILL. I do not have insurance, therefore if I do not purchase this product, I will be TAXED. Thanks to the "affordable care," others get lowers rates and I am taxed to help pay for it. Gotta love Freedom, right?

and it's not a claim the insurance my wife and children have DOUBLED, it's reality. Prior to the passage of the affordability insurance, the network of hospitals did not insure college age individuals to the age of 26.......because, well, I don't know why.....perhaps because they are adults and should be responsible for themselves.

So now there are more people covered by the plan............where do you think the extra revenue to cover these people will be generated?? You surely don't think the insurance company will take a hair cut, do you??

No, the extra provided coverage will fall onto the backs of those paying for it...........like my wife and her coworkers. They dramatically increased their insurance to cover the new dependents. It's simple arithmetic and common sense.

I do not subscribe to Allopathic medicine.......which is what the Medical Doctors practice. Heck, if insurance covered other types of medicine, I might be inclined to buy into it...but as it, you are forced to deal with one type.

Seriously, for any who want truth. Look into the Flexner report and the what occurred after it was complete.....and no, not the Wikipedia info....you must dig deeper. The Rockefeller's began to fund all the hospitals and universities that practiced Allopathy........which is basically using drugs to treat problems.
FYI: Pharmaceuticals are petroleum based.
We are taught to believe the MD is the end all be all and this is the furthest from the truth.

As far as premiums going up, honey, they've been going up by leaps and bounds for decades. And when Mitt Romeny talks about, oh, leave it to the free market, hasn't worked, has it? Won't work, for many reasons. Remember, the insurance business is the only industry in the US that is exempt from the anti-trust. price fixing laws of the US. Maybe you don't want health insurance for yourself, more power to ya. But I want it for myself, my children and the next generation of Americans. I do not want my healthcare decisions made based on pleasing greedy stockholders.

Mr. Romney, who is it you mean when you say "the private sector?" I noticed your peeps went to town with that one on your attack ads. I always thought that "the private sector" was significantly larger companies than the small mom and pop shops like those here in Safety Harbor. I don't think President Obama really said anything out of line when he said the private sector would be fine. When will welfare work in conjunction with jobs? Why is it all or nothing? I think, if I were a single mother who had a marginal education (another thing we seem to have contempt for) and I had to pay for rent, child care, transportation, and decent clothes in order to work somewhere that paid eight dollars an hour, I would opt to stay on welfare myself, because the job wouldn't pay for those things. But if welfare SUPPLEMENTED my income, I'd be more motivated to find work.Shouldn't everyone have the oportunity to get ahead? Go on vacations? BUY STUFF? I bet THAT would stimulate the old economy. One last question. Do you REALLY think rich people work harder?

Jon, like most Americans, you are obviously oblivious to what is occurring in those countries due to the "spreading of Democracy."

You really think American forces are liberators over there? They are there for corporate interests................are you really that gullible to believe they are promoting freedom in those lands?

America/Britain installs their puppets until it's time to overthrow them................how is this so difficult for the people in this country to understand. My God, people, start thinking for yourselves instead of being programmed by the television.

Iraq........Christians have lived there for 2,000 years.......not anymore, thanks to "promoting democracy".........and now Iraq is closer with the ever-so evil Iran.

Libya........how about the beheadings of all the Black Africans after the Muslim Brotherhood took over????? Yes, due to these manufactured uprisings, the Muslim Brotherhood is taking over in all these countries and they are definitely not about peace.

Syria.....like the other countries, don't you love how these "protesters" are armed many guns and rocket launchers?? Protesters simply stand in this country and they are beaten and sprayed like little ants, but CNN wants me to get behind psychos attempting to take over their country??
By the way, Christians have resided in Syria since the beginning of Christianity, but don't worry.......promote that democracy so they too can be slaughtered due to Americas involvement.

President Obama, given that 48% of the US population does not pay any federal income taxes, and the top 10% of the US population pay 70% of the total federal taxes, how are you defining "paying your fair share"? And since increasing taxes on the top 10% will not help pay down the deficit, but wll result in slowing the newly-perpetually stuttering economy , why would you plan to raise taxes (by permitting the Bush tax cuts to expire and by the Obamacare plan to increase payroll taxes, and the significant number of new taxes levied on middle class and high income earners)?

Hll,
Being Income tax is based on percentage, a better question would be why does the Middle Class still have on average a 30% tax burden while the upper and lower classes have on average a 14% tax burden. Why not have a flat tax with no exemptions. You are judging from total dollars, which is a bad way to judge income taxes. They are build to tax what you make if someone makes 1 million dollars at 14% they are pay $140,000 where as someone makeing 60,000 at 30% are paying $18,000 the weathier person is paying more taxes, but it hurts them less than the person making $60,000.

For your information, Ann Romney's watch is by Michael Kors who designs Rolex lookalike watches, the cost is $250 as for the lovely suit she wore it is designed by New York designer Alfred Fiandaca, who has been creating since 1960 best news of all it is Made in The USA unlike Michelle Obama's suit which is by British designer Preen which makes it Made in London & I have to say this Michelle Obama is a beautiful lady, she is also tall & that suit made her look very matronly, the jacket I could take it or leave it as for the print blouse the colors completely wrong, lighter shades are better for her as is the skirt with high waist & long length is the wrong look for her, I would much rather see her in a Chanel type suit, which is always the classic look!
And Linda I do not accept your negative comment "What a phony act that was" both ladies were very gracious & lovely, there was absolutely nothing phony in that wonderful moment, I was pleased to see them united :)

Why is it legal for banks to borrow from the federal reserve at a very low interest rate and then lend it to the fedral government, buying short term treasuries, and make a profit from this? Why won't they let me do this? I asked nicely. All crooked.

Why do we allow this fractional reserve system to enslave us with debt from made-up fiat money?

Joe makes a fantastic point...but the entire banking system needs an overhaul.

The banks employ what is called fractional reserve banking. They're required by law to keep 10% of their reserves on hand. So theoretically, if you have
$10 in the bank, they loan out $90.....$100=$900......$1,000=$9,000. Nice little business there, don't ya think?

They basically create money out of thin air, loan it to the public and collect interest on it...what a scam. Like Joe alludes to...the dollar is going to crash so hard due to what they are now doing. The Federal Reserve is creating $$$$ out of thin air to basically run the govt........Japan and China are no longer financing our debt, practically everything is funny money from the Federal Reserve.

As the world moves away from the dollar.....like when China and Russia agreed to trade oil using Yuan and NOT the dollar......and how the countries around the world are starting to back their currency with Gold instead of the dollar........we are going to see prices for everything dramatically increase......it's already happening. Practically everything has doubled in price the past 10 years..........and the inflated prices coincide with the inflating of the money supply.

We are taught to believe inflation just happens, but it occurs when the money supply is inflated/increased. The inflation tax is the worst tax of all.

The problem with Mr Romney being born with the silver spoon in his mouth , if you dont already know is this . He does not have a clue what it takes to start with almost nothing and have to struggle to try and get ahead of this game of life. Thats why he makes the insulting comments about the 47% of the people he knows nothing about . I have no problem with someone not having to struggle being they were born , not knowing what it really is to make ends meet . But in Mr Romneys case he does not give respect to 100% of the American people . And he slipped up letting this out before the election , so whats one to expect if he was to be our president .

I would ask Mitt Romney:

"Mr. Romney, why did you lie in the first debate about 3-4 times more often than President Obama. Fact checkers and leading media outlets like the Associated Press have shown you lied at least 27 times in the 38 minutes you spoke. You told blatant inaccuracies about your healthcare plan, about unemployment figures and other topics. With all of your lying, how can American voters expect you to tell the truth with your promises to them -- should you win the election? "

You know what I've been hearing? Romney used a technique in debate called, GISH GALLOP. This is what Wikipedia said,
"Gish has been characterized as using a rapid-fire approach during a debate, presenting arguments and changing topics very quickly. Eugenie Scott, executive director of the National Center for Science Education, has dubbed this approach the “Gish Gallop,” describing it as “where (one side ) is allowed to run on for 45 minutes or an hour, spewing forth torrents of error that the (other side) hasn’t a prayer of refuting in the format of a debate” and criticized Gish for failing to answer objections raised by his opponents.
This is what Mitt Romney did to a tee last night. He spewed so many untruths that there was simply no way President Obama could have refuted even some of them and still get out his message."

To Jasminetea: The reason downtown businesses are doing poorly is because when they're located in cities that are spread out, such as Tampa, people who live in New Tampa, Zephyrhills, Lutz, etc. are not about to travel there after working all day to have dinner or go to the movies when they have these conveniences in their own area. Maybe on weekends, but not during the week. It's the same in any sprawling city. The people who actually live in the Channelside area benefit from having those businesses close by, but it's doubtful that's enough revenue to keep them going. I've lived in Tampa for 20 years and have never even thought about going to Channelside!

5. “The Government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion.”
~1797 Treaty of Tripoli signed by John Adams

17. “Every new and successful example of a perfect separation between ecclesiastical and civil matters is of importance.”
~James Madison

This is what we were founded upon. There are LOTS more examples...

I find it hilarious every Christmas (which I love as Christ's birthday and celebrate) that some place in this country we are still fighting about public displays of Christmas decorations. And someone will inevitably pop up with this country was founded by Christians and therefore Christmas decorations should be permitted... Or are we forgetting our heritage?!?!

The first settlers this comment is always referencing are Pilgrims (aka: Puritans). Puritans did NOT celebrate Christmas. Decoration of any kind was prohibited. I understand it was a punishable offense to even bake a mince pie.

Funny how the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, etc doesn't meant God in any form except the in the proper writting of the date. As the currency didn't have "In God we Trust" until 1864 and "One Nation Under God" wasn't in the pledge until 1954. But the government/nation was founded on Christian beliefs. Of the writters/signers of the Constitution only John Adams would be consider a Christian in the true sense of the word.

Wednesday's presidential debate was more entertaining than watching a Seinfeld. After 4 years of hearing that Obama is the greatest speaker in the history of mankind we finally got to see how great he was, NOT!! Only with his teleprompter.

The debate debacle is exactly the reason Obama has never been interviewed by a real journalist (conservative media) or had any real discourse on issues. He has never had to hold his own and we, the public, have only been allowed to see the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. It’s tough luck that his first go at it was the Presidential debate. Obama thought he could waltz out and bestow his greatness on us all, but this was reality and Romney is no amateur. As many of us who have NOT been fooled know, this is what you get when you elect a radical community organizer to lead the greatest nation on earth. He is in over his head, out of his league and clearly unqualified to be president. As the left implodes and makes excuses, they really have only themselves to blame.
Obama must be thinking, I gotta do 2 more of these? We will see if it was just an “off night” for Obama, but I don't think it was. This is the real Obama, the Obama the left never wanted us to see.

There was a stark difference between the candidates. Romney had on his boxing gloves and boy did he deliver. Obama sank like a lead balloon. If find it fitting that just like at the end of The Wizard of Oz, the man behind the curtain is revealed.

Kieth,
First only conservative journalists are real journalists? Really? I did read that correctly? They are just as much blowhards as liberal journalists. The only difference is that historically the challenger has to come out swinging and usually wins the first debate (see Kerry, Dole). So he came out as the aggressor and just like Obama lied and went against previous promises. Nothing was revealed, except that people are chest pumping over a debate is won by the challenger that traditionally is. Do you remember all the liberals jumping up and down about Kerry in 2004, he won that debate because he was the aggressor. Bush seemed lost, worked out for Kerry, right? Oh, it didn't because no one remembers the first Debate, and no one follows the third debate because 80% of voters have their mind made up by now. The second debate is the key, and unfortunitely only 2 of the 8 candidates on the ballot will be there as well. So lets hold off on any parades until Nov. It seems people want to crown a winner on either side, before anything has really happened.

My question for either candidate is this... Since the 1980s the United States has followed supply-side economic policies which have ignored consumer demand as an economic factor. Chris,
Yes, currently I am undecided. It stopped being about hope with these two candidates and became the lesser of two evils. There are 8 different candidates but we are forced to only see two in the debate. We are being sold two sides of the same coin. This will probably the first election year since i have been eligible to vote that I will not see each of the candidates live. I just want to finish a debate/speech and when I follow up my research afterwards to find they didn't contridict a previous statement and/or facts. We are a crossroads, but neither of these gentlemen seem to be the leader we need to lead out of it. So I feel that it is about the society we are as a nation. As you can read the same comments I do, we are divided as much as a nation because of the partisanship. I want to see a plan not just economically but culturally how we are going to move forward.

I have a legitimate question for both candidates concerning insurance related to auto accidents not my fault, I was in 2 accidents within 1 year, first accident as most witnesses claimed was a miracle that I was alive, my car received almost $10,000 in damages the ridiculous driver who hit me head on only had property damage & no bodily injury coverage so I had to go through my insurance for medical care & only received a few thousand dollars which was ridiculous considering my injuries are permanent, well if that was not enough a month after my case settled I was in another accident this time it was a rear end collision due to another careless driver who has full coverage insurance, my injury being unbearable pain in my neck shooting down to my lower back, first accident only affected my lower back but current insurance company has the nerve to say it is pre-existing condition which is not problem lies in my neck, I have an attorney who has referred me to a pain clinic, I have done all kinds treatments except one which is laser shot where they insert 2 needles, there are no guarantees this will clear my pain there is a higher chance I will be lot worse than I am now, that's a risk I cannot take so I have refused it, today I went to see my lawyer he sides with the doctor about the laser shot so that my case will be better, this is so unfair, insurance agency offered $5000 I'll receive a few hundred after lawyer & doctor get their share....continued on next post......

Continued......my question to both candidates would be what are you going to do about crooked insurance agencies with their pre-existing nonsense & doctors who are pushing risky treatments!
President Obama's healthcare reform with pre-existing condition will not happen until 2014, I don't have the luxury of waiting to get the proper care that I need now, if President Obama cared for health care reform, why did he wait till now, why didn't he do something about this in 2008/2009??
I am so sick of Insurance Companies getting away with so much while they are making billions, taking their sweet old time paying back what they owe their loyal customers, instead of take, take, take!
As for the doctor in pain clinic, he had a nerve to get me to sign a waiver for the laser shot that he highly recommended so that he is not responsible for the worse case scenario, unbelievable more reason for me to refuse it....

The next debate covers foreign policy.
Please ask both candidates:
There are ongoing warlike conflicts and or standoffs which may boil over in the South China Sea, the Korean demilitarized zone, Russian Georgia, Syria, Cuba, Columbia, many fractionalized African States as well as Iraq and Afganistan.
How do you weigh and apportion American interest in each case?
What is the defining doctrine of foreign intervention for your term in office?
Please be specific.

Syria is rent by two factions yesterday Mr Romney said he would separate the terrorist rebels from the Americaphilic rebels and support the latter with extensive military weaponry. How will you do this Mr Romney?
To both candidates how much military support for oppressed and endangered allies through the world are you willing to spend? How do you draw a line between endangering domestic support systems and foreign intervention?
What is the role of America as superpower and a well armed nuclear power?
Will America use the nuclear option to save military cost in young soldiers lives and American treasure?

Mr Romney What would you do about a power company that coded their outages as animals, lightening , act of God , anything but the real cause like the lack of tree maintaince . The quartly reports could go to the PSC WITH LESS TREE OUTAGES and this would allow cuts to the tree maintance crews to save money on paper !!! What would you do about bigger fuses than the lines call for to help prevent outages , only problem is then the lines burn down when left to go this wat to long . And then the power company has many many blinking lights and a condition called feeder operations . Mr Romney , what would you do about management at a power company doing private work not related to the power company to help good old boys . What a minute mr Romney , your a republican , maybe just like the ones who run the power companies , so you might know of these issues , you know anything to make the share holders like you . What would you do about the power company leaving the south part of the town to last on maintance because they bring in less money and most there dont know who to complain to ?

I believe he just changes with the wind, and tells people what they want to hear. If you want truth from Romney that would be like peeing in the wind.

I would like to know what they both think about the fact that the rest of the world is beginning to reject the U.S. dollar as a reserve currency and what they will do about the enormous implications it will have on our economy in the years ahead.

Some people just dont get it. Romney is a conservative. Conservatives are above such lower-class concerns as honesty, integrity, consistency, morals, ethics, and voting for what's good for your country instead of your own narrow self-interests. To a true conservative, these liberal values, as with paying taxes, are for the "little people."

You know, the riff raff who vote Democratic

Mr Romney I spent 6 hours in the hospital 2 weeks ago . Most of this time sitting and waiting to be seen. I had 2 tests done and some blood work. I recieved the bill today for over $25,000 dollars !!!!! The hospital is on contract with my insurance company so the bill was lowered to $2.200 . I am told that the differance of $22.800 is a write off for the hospital !!!!!!!!! Mr Romney ? Can i jack up my customers bills and lower them for a write off at the end of the year ? If not why not ?

Mr Romney , A friend of mine needed open heart surgury . He has no insurance . The doctor and hospital wanted $250.000 up front to do this. My friend ended up flying to India and had it done for under $ 19.000 total . While he was there he had a root canal done for $75.00 , as opposed to $ 450.00 back home in the USA . Is it any wonder you can open up the phone book and look under doctors and find 1 American doctor for every 100 Indians ? Whats wrong with this picture mr Romney ?

It seems you are in favor of universal health care. So am I.
If an insured patient undergoes extensive open heart surgery, as one of mine did July 24th at Morton Plant the actual paid charges for preliminary cath and the surgery has been about $40,000.00.The surgeon for this aneurysm repair, conduction tract ablation and valve replacement etc got $3,000..
So the uninsured patient is quoted five times the insurance company / Medicare price. Always.
This is a good reason for universal health care.

It seems to me the logic of finding 100 Indian doctors here for every American born bred and trained here being related to cheap care in India is obscure. The pay in India motivates Indians to come here.?
Are you saying Indians are underpaid in India so they come here?. But the pay scale here for both the Indians and Americans is considered underpayment by Americans so they don't list in the phone book or open offices here?
If this is what you mean, I agree in general.
I have read innuendo many doctors avoid Massachusetts because of low fees there.
The affordable care act acknowledges the extreme undesirability of primary care to American doctors. It has some provisions which mollify the problem of underpayment eg by 10-20%. But the 5 or 10 to 1 disparity of specialist to primary care income is unaddressed in any substantial way. .
I have composed a fifty slide presentation on a current solution which I can present upon request.
Happy to join the local discussion.

I agree with you Dr. Linder, as a health care professional also, the cost of medical treatment are staggering and bankrupt many families, who cannot afford insurance. This is a true injustice.

Questions for both:
(1) What are your plans for tax reform?
(2) What are your plans for entitlement reform?
(3) What are your plans for overall spending reforms?
Mr. President:
(A) Why in the world did you push through Obamacare before focusing on jobs and housing? If urgent, why the 3 yr delay in starting?

(B) Why didn't Obamacare focus more on controlling costs vs insurance reforms? E.g, malpractice reforms (reduce costly defensive medicine), consumer incentive for everyone, a ban on cost shifting (medicare/medicaid only pay 80% of COST so hospitals need to transfer the 20% cost to private insurers-Maryland banned this?)

(C) Healthcare is 18% of our economy and impacts 100%. Looking back, was it handled properly or rammed through sloppily.

(D) When the BP oil leak happened, why all the delays in (a) stopping leak, (b) preventing spreading, (c) cleaning and (d) helping those effected. Boats were sitting idle waiting for permission for several days while some seemed to like watching BP squirm.

(E) Did the US tell the Europeans to hold off crisis until after election?

(F) Any comment?: "Naturally, the administration would prefer that this not happen. So they’ve offered to pay the legal costs of any firm that doesn’t send out the notices."http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/10/04/obama-administration-pressures-contractors-not-to-warn-workers-of-impending-layoffs.html

(G) Happy with the 7.8% numbers when over half PART-TIME?

Why should we invest in any other country other than ourselves right now, it seems to me that the role of the politicians should be investing in this country. Why should we keep dumping money into other countries when we cannot even help ourselves right now.

I would like to know from both candidates...Why are they not saying specifically what they both intend to do about the war?...And why is the US still trying to make nice with these extremists?...And why since we have enough oil, and other forms of energy are gas and oil prices still so high?...Why can't we just tell them to go pack sand?...How are we going to get the global markets showing improvement so that the US and other countries like us don't continue to fail like Greece? I have many more, but I'll just start here.

Robyn,
Because we don't have enough oil. The amount of oil we have is less than 1% of the world's oil, and wouldn't be enough to truly keep up sustained for any real length of time. Gasoline is higher than it used to be, but our legislation is still keeping the price depressed. We are not paying the $8-$11 dollars a gallon other countries are paying.
