Giving Thanks

Since it’s time to put that turkey on the table, the staff at Southeastern Guide Dogs wanted to share what they are thankful for.

I offer up the weekly column a day early so that I can share with you all what we are thankful for here at Southeastern Guide Dogs.

As we went around the office here's what everyone had to say:

I am thankful for friends and family, especially the addition of a new daughter-in-law.  I finally have a girl and didn’t have to go through labor! Leslie — Puppy Raising Services

I am thankful for another wonderful year with my very special guide dog, ‘Troy’ and to Southeastern Guide Dogs for providing this wonderful gift to me and others like me who are visually impaired, at no charge. Helen – Development Department

Fozzy's return to health! (Fozzy was in for training and had an adverse reaction during a routine surgery.  Dave along with a few other staff members nursed Fozzy back to a bounding bundle of energy.  He now is an Ambassador Dog for Southeastern.)  Dave — Apprentice Trainer

One word….CARSON! (In case you didn’t follow the series “One of Our Own Goes Through Guide Dog Team Training,” Suzy was just matched with her first guide dog, Carson.)  Suzy — Admissions

I’m thankful that I have a job that allows me to give something back and still do what I love!  Jacqui — Puppy Kennel

I am thankful for my friends, family and also the sometimes forgotten heroes of our country the men and women of Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement. They go out every day and risk their lives to save others. Heather — Puppy Kennel

I have much to be thankful for: My Christian faith; Living in a free country; Married to a wonderful man; Two loving adult children; And a job at Southeastern that I enjoy;  This is a short list. Toni — Human Resources

I am thankful for the friends and family in my life that make every day special. Tara — Puppy Raising Services

I am thankful, and honored, to be working for such a wonderful organization as Southeastern Guide Dogs. Andy — Development Department

I am thankful to work for an organization that makes a difference in people’s lives. Sandi — Executive Assistant

A job that I love to wake up to each morning. Kate — Training

I am thankful to have the opportunity to work in the industry of human compassion. Miranda – Development Department

I am grateful for my SEGDI extended family, who are always there for me when I need them! Leisa — Finance Department

I am thankful I eat the turkey. Rick — Training

I am thankful for the opportunity to do what I love AND make a difference while doing it! Chrissy — Training

I’m grateful for a job that includes making a positive impact on someone else’s life. Patsy — Development Department

For the generous hearts of the volunteers and donors who make our work possible. Titus — CEO

I am thankful for…

  • the enthusiasm of the board members and CEO.
  • Puppy hugs.
  • Wagging tails.
  • Volunteers.
  • Puppy raisers.    McCall — Development Department

And I am thankful for my wonderful husband, my furry four-legged kids, fantastic friends, having a job that I enjoy going to, where I am appreciated and where we are working for a greater good.  I am also thankful that people, like you, read and enjoy the words I put to the page.  Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving!
