The Bradenton Marauders will celebrate babies and expectant parents on August 28 when the Marauders host the Fort Myers Miracle on the six month anniversary of a live baby delivery at McKechnie Field.
Manatee Memorial Hospital and Anna Maria Oyster Bar will present the "Babies on Deck" promotion during the game that starts at 6:30 p.m.
On February 28, a baby boy was born outside the front gate of the stadium during an evening event to kick off Spring Training 2012. The baby was delivered by Pittsburgh Pirates Senior Director of Florida Operation and Marauders General Manager Trevor Gooby.
In order to commemorate the momentous occasion, Babies on Deck will be feature the most unique giveaway in Marauders’ history. The first 1,000 fans will receive a Bobble Baby, a figurine of Gooby holding a baby. Gooby’s arms bobble as he presents the baby to the world.
Gooby, a father of two, believes the celebration will be an evening to remember.
“I can’t wait to see the ballpark full of babies and mothers on August 28,” Gooby said. “Although I would prefer not to deliver any more at the stadium. Once was enough.”
The theme of the night also means a variety of fun between-inning contests are in store. Competitions like the baby stroller obstacle course, the baby-changing relay and blindfolded baby food tasting.
To purchase tickets, visit the McKechnie Field box office Monday-Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. or order online at www.BradentonMarauders.com. Groups of 10 or more should contact the group sales department, 941-747-3031.
