Silver Alert Lifted As 88-Year-Old Man Found In Georgia

Phil Phelps, who had last been seen following a car crash in Manatee County, was OK after getting into another accident near Atlanta.

A Silver Alert that had been issued for an 88-year-old man was lifted Monday night after he was located in Georgia, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported.

Phil Phelps, who had left a Sun City senior living center Sunday morning, was located at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale, Ga., south of Atlanta, where he was admitted Monday following a four-car crash. Phelps' son-in-law contacted the sheriff's office at 6:15 p.m. Monday to say Phelps was OK and a little disoriented, according to a news release.

A police officer from Henry County in Georgia told the sheriff's office Phelps was involved in a crash Monday afternoon but was not at fault.

Phelps, who has dementia and is on medication, had been last seen Sunday afternoon in Manatee County, when he was involved in another minor traffic crash at U.S. 41 and Interstate 75. His car suffered only minor damage, and he drove off headed north on I-75, the sheriff's office reported.
