Ready for School Rally Is Wednesday
The rally is a kickoff for the school year and a corporate-giving event to reward outstanding teachers.
The Manatee Education Foundation hosts the Ready for School Rally Wednesday, at 4 p.m., in the Davis Theater at Manatee High School.
More than $100,000 will be awarded to Manatee district teachers at the rally.
The Ready for School Rally will serve as both a pep rally and corporate giving event to celebrate and reward teachers whose daily efforts in the classroom shape the future of the community.
Area community members, businesses and organizations have been contributing money to the Ca$h for Cla$$room Grants program for more than six months. School District of Manatee County teachers, ranging from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, submitted grant applications and a committee of community leaders reviewed the grant applications earlier this month.
Grants will be funded in the following categories: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM); Literacy; Disadvantaged and At-Risk Youth; Arts & Culture; Environment; Children with Disabilities; Health and Fitness; and Teacher Development.
“The Ready for School Rally is a pep rally to cheer on corporate giving to our public schools,” said Mary Glass, Executive Director of the Manatee Education Foundation. “Due to the current economic climate, it is heart-warming to see our local businesses supporting education.”
