Public Invited To Riverwalk Q&A Saturday

Representatives from the project team will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during Downtown Farmers' Market.

The public is invited to take part in an information session this Saturday to discuss plans for the Riverwalk improvement project.

Representatives who are overseeing the $5.8 million project will be available at the Realize Bradenton information booth from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during Saturday's Downtown Farmers' Market. Members of the team — which includes Dale Weidemiller, project manager; James Pankonin, landscape architect; Ron Allen of NDC Construction; and Johnette Isham of Realize Bradenton — will discuss the project's features and costs and the plan for events after its completion. Drawings will also be on display.

The project, funded by real estate taxes paid by downtown businesses and residents and allocated for downtown improvement projects, will redevelop the Manatee River waterfront from the Green Bridge to Manatee Memorial Hospital. Plans include lighted walking and bike paths, day docks, an enhanced amphitheater, volleyball courts, a skate park and more.

The plans for the project are scheduled to come before the Bradenton City Council at its 6 p.m. meeting on Feb. 23 for approval.
