Pirate Fest Invades Renovated McKechnie Field
Pittsburgh Pirates fans will get to meet their favorite players and mascots in Bradenton's McKechnie Field.
Watch out, Buccos, here come the Pirate fans.
The eighth annual Pirate Fest returns to McKechnie Field on Saturday March 9, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., where fans get to meet and greet with their favorite Pittsburgh Pirates players.
The event festival will be held on 9thStreet West, just outside the main gate at McKechnie Field. Following the party, the Pirates will play the Minnesota Twins at 1:05 p.m. The party is free and open to the public, and tickets are required for the spring training game.
Stay after the game for a country music concert with Chris Lane on the new boardwalk in the outfield.
Here is what's on tap at Pirate Fest:
- Autograph sessions with Pirates players
- Photos with Pirate Parrot and Marty the Marauder
- giveaways, face painting, inflatable games,
- live music by Matthew Huff
Inside the gates for fans with tickets, Pirates 1971 World Series pitcher Steve Blass will sign his new book A Pirate for Life from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Due to 9th Street being closed for Pirate Fest, fans wishing to park in the Boys and Girls Club parking lot must access the lot through the back entrance on 6th Street.
Can't make it Saturday? The Pirates will play the Orioles at 7:05 p.m., Friday and end the game with a fireworks display. Bright House Networks customers can present their statements at the McKechnie Field box office to purchase a Grandstand ticket for $1 off the price of admission.
