The Bradentucky Bombers hosted their last home bout of the 2011 roller derby season on Sunday in a special event that honored all first responders and veterans.
The Bradentucky Bombers hosted their last bout of the 2011 rollery derby season at Astro Skate on Sunday evening. They took on the Ocala Cannibals for the third time this season.
Accompanying the bout, the Bombers held a special tribute to first responders and veterans, in recognition of the 10 year anniversary of 9/11.
All first responders and veterans who showed their IDs at the event received five free tickets for a special "First Responder Raffle" prize. Ware's Jewelers donated a 14ct white gold diamond cross pendant necklace for the raffle, in which only veterans and first responders had the opportunity to participate.
Members of the Bradenton Police Explorer Post #1004 were in attendance to kick off the event with a special Presentation of Colors, while vocally-inclined Bombers sang The National Anthem.
Although the Bradentucky Bombers rolled hard and fast, Ocala's Cannibals defeated the hometown skaters, claiming 183 points to edge past the the Bombers' 130 in one of the most dramatic bouts this season.

Hey Jessi,
The Presentation of Colors was actually done by the Bradenton Police Explorer Post #1004. Sorry for the confusion! Thanks!

So sorry, Simone! I erroneously put it in my notes as the Manatee County Sheriff's Explorer Post.
