Motorist Shot After Leaving U Pull It

The 39-year-old driver told police that someone in a green Pontiac followed him and flashed the car's headlights until he pulled over. That's when things really went wrong.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help tracking down the driver of a green Pontiac who pulled out a small handgun and shot another motorist.

The victim, 39-year-old Sandro Hernandez, told police that he left Copher's U Pull It on 63rd Avenue East in Bradenton at noon Friday.

He was driving east in the 2600 block of 63rd Avenue east, when he noticed a green Pontiac flashing its lights at him.

Hernandez told police that he stopped his vehicle and exited to see why the motorist had signalled to him. Hernandez said that the male driver began to yell at him and then pulled out a small handgun.

The motorist shot Hernandez in the left hand and drove off.

Investigators are asking that anyone who has information on the incident should call the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, 941-747-3011, or Crime Stoppers, at 866-634-TIPS (8477).
