Man Tries to Use Skateboard as Deadly Weapon

The 34-year-old suspect threatened to hit a man and his pregnant wife with the skateboard.

A 34-year-old Sarasota man has been charged with using his skateboard as a deadly weapon.

Jacob Glansnovich lifted his skateboard over his head and threatened to strike a man and his pregnant wife at the Riverfront skate park, 105 1st St. E., Bradenton, authorities said.

According to the Bradenton Herald, Glansnovich made the threat after the victims' dog started barking at skateboarders and the male victim held the dog to calm him down. Glansnovich said he did not like how the victim was holding his dog.

According to the victims, Glansnovich became irate, lifted his skateboard over his head and threatened to hit the man and then his pregnant wife, who rushed over.

Although Glansnovich fled the area before deputies arrived, he was spotted, identified and arrested.

First piece of trash arrested at Riverwalk! How much of a low life must you be to threaten a pregnant women?

I talked to BPD officer there who said they're not prepared for this. He said the skate park is open 24/7 and even lit, but he anticipated a lot of problems. Even the train crossing area could be considered dangerous by some.

There is no respect any more for life. People are no longer safe unless they are in a large crowd. It's a crime that people can't take a nice walk, without being threatened. If it takes a raise in our taxes, then we need to do it. We need more police in our town, and I am willing to pay for more trained police men; however, not willing to pay for more Administrators and desk sitters. Put them out on the streets, guarantee us more police on our streets and we will pay for it.
