It's Primary Voting Day

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. in Manatee County today.

Manatee County voters have a full menu of decisions to make today, as they head to the polls to vote in the Primary.

Voters will cast ballots for the school board, sheriff and county commissioner.

Here's a quick rundown of som key races:

Sheriff's race: Incumbent Brad Steubeand faces Bill Waldron. All registered voters are allowed to vote on this race, regardless of party affiliation.

School Board: Four candidates are vying for the District 2 school board seat that Harry Kinnan is leaving, due to retirement. They are: William S. Chaltis, Dave Miner, Robert Moates and Paul A. Sharff. In District 4, incumbent Bob Gause faces Linda Schaich. These are nonpartisan races.

U.S. Senate: Glenn A. Burkett wants to unseat Bill Nelson in the Primary race between Democrats. The GOP side is much more crowded for the Primary race:
George LeMieux, who withdrew, Deon Long, Connie Mack IV, Mike McCalister, Marielena Stuart and Dave Weldon.

State Attorney: In District 12, Republicans have a choice between Ed Brodsky and Peter Lombardo.

County Commission: In District 7, incumbent Joe McClash faces Betsy Benac for a Republican at-large seat. In District 1, incumbent Larry Bustle faces Nathaniel Leonard in the Republican field. In District 5, Vanessa Baugh and John Colon face off in the Republican Primary; Frank Archino and James T. Golden vie in the Democrat Primary.
