Gun Buyback Day Is Sunday

Guns can be turned in to Bradenton Police, no questions asked, in exchange for gift certificates from Bealls Department Store.

The Bradenton Police Department’s “Gun Buy Back” day with Bealls Department Stores is scheduled at two locations Sunday, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

The sites are:

  1. 1500 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. E.
  2. 2004 14th Street West.

This program allows citizens to turn in guns of all types while remaining anonymous. The goal of the program is to reduce and attempt to eliminate the threat and use of those guns on the streets of Bradenton.

  • Anyone exchanging a semi-automatic gun will receive a $50 gift certificate from Bealls Department Stores.
  • Anyone exchanging any other type of gun will receive a $25 gift certificate from Bealls. Guns must be functional to receive a gift certificate.

Guns should be transported in a secure container, preferably inside the trunk of a vehicle. All guns should be unloaded of all ammunition and wrapped in a paper bag or newspaper. It is very important that you notify a police officer at the gun exchange if you have brought a loaded gun that you are unable to unload.

Citizens may also turn in contraband like illegal drugs or stolen property without the fear of arrest and no questions will be asked.
