When/where: 6 p.m. Friday at South Florida Museum, 201 10th St. W.
Why go: This Friday's film is "180 Degrees South," part of the museum's "Splash" series of movies about water sports, environmental issues and the sea. A band of bliss-seeking surfer-mountaineers set out to recreate a famous adventure, island hopping along the way to Patagonia — a region besieged by environmental threats — in this breathtakingly beautiful film from 2010. Rated PG.

When/where: Registration opens 5:30 p.m. Friday at Bradenton Yacht Club in Palmetto. Captains meeting at 6:30 p.m. Friday with offshore fishing to follow; inshore/junior divisions open Saturday; weigh-ins from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Why go: The three-day fishing tournament, presented by the Hernando De Soto Historical Society and the Tarpon Pointe Grill & Tiki Bar, celebrates its 15th year.
Pricing: Free to attend weigh-ins. Entry fees are $175/team (juniors), $350 inshore and $450 offshore.
When/where: 6 p.m. Saturday at Bradenton Yacht Club in Palmetto.
Why go: About 10,000 rubber ducks will race down the Manatee River in a fundraiser for PACE Center for Girls.
Pricing: It's free to attend, and $5 to sponsor a duck in the race, with special deals available for a family or flock of ducks. See the race website for details.
When/where: 7 p.m. Sunday at Astro Skate (tailgating starts at 6, doors open 6:30).
Why go: The Bradentucky Bombers roller derby team has a home bout Sunday night against the Sintral Florida Derby Demons. The Distillery Tavern will provide free beer during tailgating, then host an after-party at the bar, 108 44th Ave. E.
Pricing: Tickets are $12 at the door, or $10 in advance at select locations or from your favorite Bomber girl. Kids 12 and younger get in free.
