The child was taken to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg and is expected to fully recover, Manatee County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Dave Bristow said Tuesday morning.

A Bradenton 3-year-old was found shot in the knee outside his home late Monday night, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.

Deputies say the boy's mother and five other people were inside the residence in the 600 block of 61st Avenue East around 11:30 p.m. Monday night when they heard a gunshot nearby.

They walked out front to find the boy lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his knee and with a gun located next to him, according to a sheriff's office spokesperson.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and theorize that the unfortunate lad's "parents" are users of illicit substances, and were likely using one or more of those substances while the boy was able to pick up one of their (probably stolen) guns they left lying around and take it out to play with it. That area is infested with ghetto rats. Time to call the exterminator! It's not the gun's fault people - it's the irresponsible morons who had possession of it (legally or otherwise). They need to be made an example of and be held accountable for their actions.

What is a three year old doing outside by himself? That alone makes me wonder about the ability of the parents to raise this child. This was at 11:30 at night,he should have been in bed. When (if) this child grows up without getting into trouble or going to jail it will be a miracle.

Don't worry folks for the mere sum of twenty-four million dollars of your money, the medical community is going to educate and counsel these misquided human beings and make them capable of better decisions. They say so in the health care plan that will benefit the doctors and hospitals so they get paid more because they increased the base line of income and expanded services. Our commissioners in Manatee County is trying to slide this program to the home plate by using the public to "feel" for the "poor" people and get you to tax yourself with no limits that you the public can put on it's use or even if the tax rate could be raised. Don't buy that your mean if you vote note on the June 18th referendum to raise your taxes. You already are taxed enough.

Exactly canary...no more taxes period. I don't care how they try to sell the idea. They SAY property taxes will decrease by more, thus creating less of a tax burden for homeowners, but politicians will SAY anything and everything to get your vote. I want to see it in writing before I vote on anything.
