Landscaping and irrigating the Bradenton Riverwalk project is nearing completion by Turner Tree and Landscape Co.

The landscaping represents an investment of more than half a million dollars, and Turner expects to finish its work in time for opening ceremonies Oct. 18.

Trees, shrubbery, and 126,400 square feet of new grass come to $382,000 in the contracts awarded to Turner. Irrigation is adding $131,000 to the investment.

Nearly 600 trees standing eight to 20 feet tall are included, and they are Sabal Palms, Royal Palms, Oaks, Sycamores, Pines, Black Olives, Crape Myrtles, Buttonwoods and Sweetgums. In additional, 3675 three-gallon plants are being installed, and 18,000 one-gallon plants. Turner crews brought the trees and plantings from the company's farms in Manatee County.
